Boneless Skinless USDA Certified Chicken Breast

39.5% of goodpup recipe

Good Pup’s chicken recipe includes a massive 40g of protein per cup, of which around 30g comes from our chicken breast alone!

High-Quality Protein: Chicken breast is an incredibly lean source of protein. Protein of course is essential for building and repairing tissues, muscles, and cells in dogs, and readily bioavailable and easy to digest chicken breast excels here.

Nutrient-Rich: It contains essential nutrients such as vitamins B6 and B12, niacin, phosphorus, and selenium, which are important for a dog’s overall health.

Low in Fat: Chicken breast is low in fat compared to other parts of the chicken, making it a suitable option for dogs prone to obesity or those needing a low-fat diet.

Supports Muscle Health: The protein in chicken breast helps maintain and build strong muscles in dogs, contributing to their overall strength and mobility.

Easy to Digest: Chicken breast is generally easy for dogs to digest, making it suitable for dogs with sensitive stomachs or digestive issues.

how is this ingredient prepared within goodpup?

We start out by brining our chicken breast in a salt water bath for a minimum of 30 minutes. After that, they are oven baked in a convection oven to an internal temp of 155Ā°. We let them rest and then dice into the main recipe. We collect all of the drippings from the baking process and create a delicious reduction from them. They are later added to the recipe as our final ingredient (flavor, flavor, and more flavor!!)

Brown Long Grain Jasmine Rice

12.5% of goodpup recipe

Brown long grain jasmine rice is a nutritious whole grain that provides several essential nutrients.Ā  We include rice in our recipe specifically to not be a grain free diet. The FDA has linked certain grain-free diets, particularly those containing high levels of peas, lentils, chickpeas, and potatoes, to an increased risk of dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) in dogs.

Brown long grain jasmine rice is a good source of complex carbohydrates, which provide sustained energy. It also contains dietary fiber, which aids in digestion and helps promote feelings of fullness.

It’s important to note that although rice contains protein, we do not include it for this statistic, Our main sources for proteins overwhelmingly come from much higher quality sources. Our rice is here only to include a grain and energy dense complex carbohydrates.

how is this ingredient prepared within goodpup?

Our rice is prepared in a very special way. We infuse our rice with a broth that is created during cooking our chicken hearts and chicken liver. The broth accounts for around a third of the water needed to make a normal batch of rice. We bring the rice to a light boil in our wok, then reduce heat to a simmer for 10 minutes. We then stir and leave covered for an additional 10 minutes. Perfect rice every single time that’s now been infused with added nutrients from our meat products!

Natural and Organic Source: Free-range organic eggshells are free from pesticides, antibiotics, and hormones, offering a natural and safe source of nutrients for dogs.

Phosphorus Balance: Eggshells contain phosphorus in the correct ratio to calcium, promoting optimal bone health and preventing imbalances that could lead to skeletal issues in dogs.

Digestive Health: Ground eggshells can provide dietary fiber, which supports digestive health and aids in regular bowel movements in dogs.

how is this ingredient prepared within goodpup?

Even though we only use organic egg shells that are free of all the harmful chemicals found in commercial egg production, we still triple wash them and then bake to ensure purity. Once baked, we grind them into a fine powder so even discerning palettes won’t notice all the awesome calcium infused into our final recipe.

What Can I Expect After Ordering?

You should receive an order confirmation email within minutes of ordering. If you don’t, it is possible your info at checkout wasn’t entered properly and you should contact us at: orders@goodpupfood.co

After that, the next time you’ll hear from us is on your delivery day. You will receive an email notifying that your order will be delivered that day. If for any reason that day does not work for you, simply contact us via email, call, or text and we’ll reschedule your delivery.

After that, you’ll get a text when delivery is imminent (within an hour of delivery typically).

Best Practices For Receiving Your Delivery?

Once your delivery day is set, we will be in communication with you throughout the day. If you know you will be home on the day of your delivery, you really don’t need to do anything special!

Typically, we ring the doorbell and hand you the order. If you prefer a more stealthy delivery (so as not to set off dog alarms, or you just don’t want to put clothes on lol) just let us know! We’re happy to accommodate to your specific needs.

If you know you won’t be home for hours, a small cooler on the doorstep is a fantastic way to buy you a couple extra hours of time keeping the food frozen. Good Pup comes frozen solid, so with a cooler you should be able to safely have the order on your porch for several hours without issue.

A secondary option, is that we can leave a cooler bag to buy some extra time. We try not to do this much, as they are both expensive and wasteful, and are not as good as a real cooler. If we do need to leave a cooler bag, we’d love to get it back on your next order.

If you know you won’t be home at all for that delivery day, just contact us and we will reschedule you for the next available delivery day.

Once you receive your order, put any bags you are not intending to serve within the week back into your own freezer. Allow the bag(s) you intend to start serving to thaw and start serving up some fresh Good Pup Food!

Can I Pick Up Good Pup From Anywhere?

As of now, we only offer home delivery. We are hard at work obtaining our own retail & kitchen space. Once we do, pickup will available in Reno from this location.

We currently cook in a commercial kitchen space that is shared, and therefore does not allow us to conduct retail business from it.

In an effort to keep our prices low, we have opted to be primarily direct-to-consumer, as opposed to partnering with pet supply stores at this time. This could change, and if it does we will update this info with the latest options to pick up Good Pup Food.
