a little about us
and how to reach out
mission & vision
At Good Pup Food Co, our mission is to provide the best fresh and local dog food delivery option available anywhere in the world.
We aim to achieve this through uplifting the local communities we service by only sourcing, hiring, producing, and delivering locally.
Our company’s vision is to elevate canine nutrition to such a level that 20+ year old dogs become normal, not exceptional. We know well crafted fresh foods are a key component to making this a reality.
Our growing team has had dogs all throughout their lives, and we are so impressed with the difference feeding fresh has made in all our dog’s lives.
We grew up believing kibble was the only option out there, and that feeding human foods was considered “spoiling” your dog, or even bad for them.
So much has changed since then.
the
origin story
Our brand was borne out of our co-founder’s search for better options in both his life and for his latest pup, a yellow labrador retriever named Mac Miller. Mac was struggling mightily from gut issues, and his hooman was struggling mightily to find fulfillment in his work.
Mac’s body struggled with kibble from a very early age. At first we thought it may be an allergy to chicken, and so we would switch proteins only for the same cycle to start again not long after.
We’d battle constant (and vile) gas coming from both ends, all too frequent diarrhea, bad breath, tartar buildup, even intermittent bouts of vomiting.
This wasn’t supposed to be happening with a puppy. It was the first time our co-founder had ever raised a puppy, he had grown up always adopting mutts, but Mac had been a special opportunity. Mac was the pick of the litter from two highly championed field trial AKC bloodlines. But this superdog’s gut was turning out to be anything but super.
Out of some desperation, we started supplementing Mac’s kibble with some gently cooked homemade ingredients. His gut responded. We kept adding more and more to this earliest version of goodpup until finally friends and family started to notice.
Our co-founder was given encouragement to go all in with this recipe from a few very key loved ones. He brought the idea to his business partner, and we were immediately excited about the prospect of starting a company that helped our most beloved family members, and so goodpup was unofficially borne. The excitement around Mac’s initial results inspired us to deep dive canine nutrition, and over the course of the next six months develop a recipe and process that was complete enough for Mac to eat entirely and ditch the kibble for good.
With the help of local vets (and now) a Ph.D. in canine nutrition guiding our recipe towards the ultimate in completeness for every life stage, the official versions of goodpup were created.Ā We look forward to continually working with these thought leaders in the space to continually bring new and exciting products to market that are of the absolute highest quality available.
Once we switched Mac to fully fresh, his gut transformed. He was a completely different dog.
A reputation of farts that once preceded him, was now eerily absent.
His poops were now not only solid, but much, much smaller, consistent, and more natural.
His breath has freshened, his tartar has subsided, his shedding dramatically reduced, and his already vibrant energy levels are now basically limitless.Ā Try and out swim or out run this dog, we dare you.
We started handing out samples to friends who also had dogs, and the response has spoke for itself. Starting a business is hard, yes. The hours are long, and the outcome is uncertain. But the feedback we’ve gotten makes all of this worth it. We are on to something here, and we can’t wait to share it to so many other loving dog owners.
Mac is now our CTO (chief tasting officer) and we couldn’t be happier with his progress and new found digestive health.
